SEASON 1 ↓

The goal in Season 1 was to evoke a feeling of being pulled into the ocean as a metaphor for the intensity and depth of the series storyline. We shot POVs of a person feet being pulled into the black ocean then the crash of waves and flash frame of hands to suggest drowning. This type of imagery was mixed with other shoots of Noah’s book, a drowning eye, shell, violent wind blowing sand revealing rocks, another POV of knees & hand with a wave crash, a toy captain hook arm, symbolizing Alison’s son, then mixing a series of character shots from production and the finale, the feeling of being submerged. We chose to bookend with the feet POV on the black ocean.

Season 2 is an extension of Season 1. The characters are submerged and traveling down to the “abyss”. We wanted to make the imagery feel like the characters are sinking to the darkest, lowest point of their consciousness. In Los Angeles we shot bodies crashing into water. In NYC we shot the characters drifting deeper into the “abyss”.
